Functional Medicine

Alastair has been studying nutrition since becoming a chiropractor. Chiropractors spend 2 years studying biochemistry and physiology as part of their degree. This is the equivilent length of time that medical doctors study these subjects. Biochemistry and physiology are the medical sciences that are necessary for understanding nutrition. Alastair also studied nutrition for a year as part of his degree.

Since being in practice Alastair has continued postgraduate education in nutrition and has been studying functional medicine since 2002.

In 2012 he completed the Institute for Functional Medicine's world renowned AFMCP functional medicine course.

Functional medicine has recently come more into the public's awareness through prime time television programmes such as BBC1's 'Dr in the house' serise, hosted by Dr Rangan Chatterjee. "Rangan has become a regular attendee at functional medicine events in recent years. He is very easy to get on with and is well liked in the functional medicine community" says Alastair.
